"So far, our only complaint is there's no way to attach the lunchbox to the bookbag. But today was her first day of school and she was so excited with her new gear. We were looking for a bookbag that will last several years instead of falling apart before the summer. We know Herschel bags are resilient because her dad has one that's withstood years of being overfilled with heavy tech and beat up. It still looks great!"
"First, I ordered these for each of my boys this year. They are hard on things. We’ve never had a backpack make it to Christmas break without failing, specifically the zipper and mesh water bottle pouch. I’ve heard amazing things about it Herschel so I figured since they had a Minecraft option (Minecraft is non negotiable with the boys, though they don’t care about brand or quality at this point) we’d give it a try. It might be worth it to pay the extra $40-50 for a backpack if it actually lasts. They arrived and seemed great in build and the boys were stunned at the details. They absolutely love them! Well unfortunately less than 2 weeks into the school year and the mesh water bottle pouch already started ripping. I did sew it in an attempt to prevent future damage, but not only is this a new record for us (usually we make it a month or two on the Walmart backpacks…) but I did specifically order what I thought would be a backpack I would not have to repair this school year. I sent the picture to their customer service and received an AI reply to send it to their warranty. I don’t think this qualifies for any warranty, I honestly just wanted them to know it’s a problem. I did submit it though so a human could see it, this process started over a week ago and I’m yet to hear a reply, so also not at all the customer service I’d expect. Again, my boys are absolutely hard on things! But this was pretty disappointing overall for me. They are still thrilled with them. 3 stars for design and how smooth the zipper operates. If this can help another mom out, then it was worth the time! I’d skip the Herschel premium unless your kid is dead set on that specific backpack. If they’re happy with the Walmart backpacks, keep buying them because no matter what you’re repairing it or replacing it within the year!"
